Mount Gay is awesome, but if it was my company, I'd change the name. Don't care what the Mountain is named. Mount Cleavage or Mount Rum would sell better.
No. 739 ID: 98048a
>>734

I think that if you've been making the same rum for 300 years changing the name is pretty stupid when you considered that language changes constantly.

If I owned the company and someone even suggested that I should change the name because of the homosexual connotation to the word I'd have him tied down on a sunny Barbados beach and have him trampled by the company brontosaurus.

tl;dr = homophobia is one thing, you're just an idiot.

You might consider rebranding your product if your sales were down due to a negative connotation associated with and old family name. Unless of course you aren't bottling rum for profit.

Either way, it's not my homophobia that is causing the problem, since I buy their rum and strongly encourage bi-sexuality in the women around me. Its the bulk of their other customers homophobia thats the problem. Sales aren't down because their rum is bad or even priced badly, thats for sure.

For a bug out bag, I'd go with a small bottle of something you really like. Lets face it, if you're seriously into the bag then bad shit has happened and you deserve something nice.

I reward myself with Don Julio 1942 tequila, Bush Mills special reserve scotch, and other high end spirits. Unfortunately, they don't come in small bottles, so you might want to pick up a nice metal and transplant.

Personally, I'm not putting anything for barter really into my bug out bag. It only has to get me from point A to point B, alive and preferably healthy.

This is the standard, but I enjoy a good scotch or vodka every now and then. Just picked up some Glenrothes Select reserve Single Malt that I'm looking forward to trying. Iceberg vodka is impossibly fantastic, and at $20 a bottle, completely worth every cent. >"I drink absinthe, look a painting of the guy who went crazy and cut of his own ear from drinking the shit, i'm a REAL MAN"

Oh please, do shut up. Absinthe only caused problems because of the toxic chemicals added to cheap absinthe to enhance the green colour. Wormwood isn't psychoactive, it just causes muscle spasms in large doses.
Also, van Goch only cut off his earlobe, not his entire ear.

That said, I prefer Duplais Verte.

Studies have certainly shown that alpha-thujone (active ingredient in absinthe/wormwood) can cause convulsions in high doses, leading to death once an extremely high point is reached (~60mg/kg).

The main sticking point is that frequent and habitual use of the chemical can cause imbalances in certain chemicals; leading to insomnia, paranoia, anxiety, and even schizophrenia.

It is not responsible for any sort of hallucinations or anything similar. The desired and common effect of alpha-thujone on the brain is a sense and feeling of euphoria.

The fact that absinthe is 90% alcohol traditionally probably doesn't hurt that effect.

So Halloween is coming up. Looks like I'll be getting drunk with a few (girl) friends. Any recommendations on what kind of alcohol to bring? I just got 750ml of "Maloney's Irish Cream," so I might be bringing that, but it seems more like something I'd drink at home alone after a long day. I was thinking I might get some wild turkey. Or if I go the beer route something with fliptop bottles, like Grolsh, so that I can re-use the bottles again in homebrewing endevors. As for homebrewed stuff... I just bottled a grape mead so i could take some of that... but it really hasn't aged more than about 6 months.

I am lost.

When serving women, I tend to recommend fruity mixed drinks. I have to agree with the poster who said they don't like the taste of alcohol but do like sweet. I tend to stick with mixed vodka and tequila drinks. In all cases, use good alcohol; the cheap stuff just makes the chick sick and then no one has a good time.

Cosmopolitan - an awesome chick drink. I tend to go with a 1/2/4 mix of Cointreau, Vodka (citron variety for extra points), and Cranberry/Cranapple juice. Add a squeeze of lime and shake with ice. Serve in a martini glass. Increase the amount of cran juice if the girls think they're too strong.

No pic cause that would require getting up.

I have a decent selection.

1) Vodka (stoli I think).
2) Gin (Bombay)
3) Hennessy
4) Hypnotiq
5) JC Gold (Tequilla)
6) Kahlua
7) Baileys
8) Some Bacardi Rum
9) Jack Daniels.

Etc. I just like having choices. :). Much more to come in the coming months when I have more money.

Which is funny. I hardly drink.
